A mystery bidder has paid $28 million for a three-minute space trip with Jeff Bezos. The bidding started at $4.8 million and reached the winning bid in less than 10 minutes. That’s three times longer than the time they will spend in space onboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard. The bidder will fly with Bezos, his brother Mark, and one other passenger on July 20, with an overall flying time of about 11 minutes in Blue Origin’s first mission flying humans.
Space exploration has come a long way since the launch of the first human-made object to orbit Earth, the Soviet Union’s Sputnik 1, in 1957. With over 21 countries having dedicated space agencies, and over 13 private companies investing in space flights, there is widespread global research and investments into space exploration.
Open source libraries in space exploration have helped agencies, hobbyists, and enthusiasts learn from each other. There are over 5400 libraries available for space exploration. kandi collection on Space Exploration showcases libraries across end-to-end exploration and visualization projects, robotics for in-space automation, rocketry, data and visualization libraries to help in other applications, radio astronomy, tracking ISS, and other fun projects on image and information capture from satellites and robotic explorers.
